Downtown Springfield's Neighborhood Pub

Cold drinks. Good food. Familiar faces.

A downtown Springfield pub with Irish roots and a lot of stories to tell.

There are places built to impress people.

Finnegan's Wake was built for people to gather.

For years, folks have come through these doors looking for all kinds of things. A cold beer after work. A place to watch the game. A burger and a conversation. A celebration. A distraction. A familiar face behind the bar. Sometimes, they don't even know what they're looking for until they find it.

That's the thing about neighborhood bars. The good ones become part of people's lives.

They host first dates and retirement parties. They become the meeting spot before concerts and the place you end up afterward. They hold reunions that weren't planned and friendships that were. They witness heartbreak, job promotions, birthday toasts, and the kind of laughter that makes you forget to look at your phone.

Finnegan's Wake has been part of downtown Springfield long enough to have seen all of it.

And we're grateful for every single person who's pulled up a stool.

The Kind of Place You Can Be Yourself

We won't pretend to be the fanciest place in town.

The floors creak a little. The brick walls have earned every scratch and scuff. The neon signs weren't chosen by an interior designer. The pool table has seen its fair share of arguments over whether that shot counted.

We like it that way.

Because somewhere along the line, this place stopped being just a bar.

It became familiar. It became dependable. It became the place where people know your name, or at least remember what you're drinking.

You don't have to dress up. You don't have to know anybody. You don't have to be a regular.

Just walk in. We'll make room.

Always something on

About us

Downtown Springfield Has Changed.
We're Still Here.

A lot has changed downtown over the years.

Businesses have come and gone. Buildings have changed hands. New places have opened their doors while others quietly closed them.

Through it all, Finnegan's Wake has remained what it's always been: a place where people can gather without expectation.

A place where construction workers sit next to attorneys.

Where college graduates celebrate their first jobs, and retirees tell stories from careers long finished.

Where old friends pick up conversations right where they left off.

Where newcomers become regulars.

Where everybody belongs a little bit.

We don't take ourselves too seriously. But we take care of our people. Always have.

If These Walls Could Talk

  • They'd probably tell stories that get better every time they're repeated.
  • They'd tell you about impossible comebacks during the big game.
  • About trivia teams convinced they were robbed.
  • About birthdays that lasted longer than planned.
  • About the couples who met here.
  • About the friends who still gather at the same table year after year.
  • About the bartenders who listened when somebody needed to talk.
  • About all the ordinary nights that ended up meaning more than anyone expected.
  • Places like this don't exist because of the building.
  • They exist because of the people who fill them.
  • And we've been lucky to know so many good ones.
